Satadipa Chaudhuri, Founder and Director of The Mindful Lifestyle Store in Kolkata, is working to redefine how people approach health and well-being. With nearly 18 years of professional experience in psychology across India, Indonesia and the United States, she has combined academic research, behavioural science and lifestyle practices to build a preventive healthcare platform rooted in mindfulness.
Satadipa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Calcutta and two Master’s degrees in Psychology from the University of Delhi and New York University. Throughout her career, she has worked in diverse areas including human resources, education, curriculum development, neuromarketing and healthcare. These experiences gradually shaped her interest in human behaviour, attention and lifestyle choices, which later became the foundation for her work in mindfulness and preventive health.
From Research to Personal Transformation
Satadipa’s deeper engagement with mindfulness began in the spring of 2021 while she was living in New York City during the global pandemic. During this period, she explored mindfulness not only as meditation but as a broader approach to living with awareness and intention.
At New York University, she was mentored by her Professor Dr. David Bosch, which strengthened her understanding of attention and behavioural processes. She also worked with the start-up Neuro-Insight and later participated in mindfulness research alongside experts including Dr. Michelle Pelcovitz, Dr. Rachel Waldman and Dr. Abhishek Jaywant at Weill Cornell Medicine.
Alongside this research journey, Satadipa pursued further learning through certifications in The Science of Well-Being from Yale University and Lifestyle Medicine from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Her interests expanded to include breathwork, nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management and social connectedness.
When she returned to India, she applied these principles to her own life while recovering from severe burnout. Through mindful eating, mindful walking and building stronger social connections, she regained her health and lost 25 kilograms. This personal experience reinforced her belief that lifestyle changes rooted in awareness can significantly improve well-being.
Building The Mindful Lifestyle Store
Inspired by both personal experience and research, Satadipa founded The Mindful Lifestyle Store on June 14, 2024. The platform is designed as a mindfulness-based lifestyle medicine initiative focused on preventive healthcare and everyday well-being.
The Mindful Lifestyle Store offers counselling, coaching and workshops that help individuals integrate mindfulness into daily life. Its programmes include Mindful Movement with Forest Bathing, Mindful Goal Setting sessions, Mindful Hydration sessions, Mindful Meal Planning, Mindful Sleep Health programmes and social connectedness events focused on health and well-being.
Within a short span, the platform has built a growing community across multiple channels. It has already hosted five events with more than 100 participants and reached audiences in over 40 countries. Its weekly newsletter, Saturdays with Satadipa, has published 29 editions and provides subscribers with evidence-based mindfulness tips and insights.
Exploring Better Sleep Through Mindfulness
Continuing its focus on preventive health, The Mindful Lifestyle Store will host its sixth event titled “Mindfulness and The Art of Sleep.” The session will take place on March 14 in Kolkata as an offline event and on March 15 online for global participants.
The event will explore how mindful practices can support better sleep and overall health. Participants will experience guided breathing exercises, ASMR sessions and discussions on creating sleep-friendly environments and nutrition habits that support rest. In a creative element, selected participants will also have their resting portraits painted while they relax in hammocks surrounded by nature.
Making Mindfulness Practical and Evidence-Based
Through The Mindful Lifestyle Store, Satadipa Chaudhuri aims to make mindfulness accessible, practical and rooted in scientific understanding. Rather than positioning mindfulness as a niche concept, she encourages people to view it as a way of living with awareness, balance and curiosity.
By combining psychology, research and lifestyle medicine, her work continues to promote preventive healthcare practices that empower individuals to build healthier habits and more mindful lives.
