Written in the Stars is a deeply emotional and uplifting story that explores love, loss, and the quiet strength it takes to keep moving forward.

At twenty-one, Maev lives a peaceful life in Fort Kochi, surrounded by family, friendships, and dreams of becoming a writer. When love enters her life, it brings warmth and new possibilities.

But everything changes when she is diagnosed with Stage 1 leukemia. Faced with fear and uncertainty, Maev begins a journey—not just through illness, but through her own emotions, memories, and purpose.

A transformative trip to Kashmir becomes a turning point, leading her through moments of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. Along the way, she learns that even in the darkest times, hope can still shine through.

Tender, cinematic, and deeply moving, this novel is a celebration of resilience, human connection, and the enduring power of love.

1. What inspired you to write this particular book, and how did the idea for the story come to you?

This book was born from a simple yet powerful thought—that love can stay with us even through loss, distance, and time. I wanted to tell a story that feels deeply emotional yet hopeful—a story about how certain people enter our lives and leave a permanent mark on our hearts.

The idea came from imagining how love and memory can continue to exist even after goodbye, almost as if written in the stars. From that feeling, Maev and Sam’s journey slowly began to take shape.

At the same time, I wanted the book to be more than just a love story. It explores the emotional depth of a mother-daughter relationship, the strength of friendship, and the bond between close companions. For me, love exists in many forms, and I wanted the story to reflect that richness.

2. Can you share some insights into your writing process?

This book took me more than a year to complete, and the journey itself became part of the story. I first wrote the synopsis in 2021, but only years later did I decide to turn it into a full novel.

Since I work a 9-to-5 job, I usually wrote after hours, often late at night. There were days when the words flowed easily, and others when I struggled with writer’s block and self-doubt.

Music plays a huge role in my creative process. I often listen to the Interstellar soundtrack by Hans Zimmer while writing emotional scenes. It helps me connect deeply with the characters’ feelings. I also visualize each scene like a film in my mind, which allows me to create vivid and immersive storytelling.

3. Are your characters based on real people?

The characters are mostly imagined, but their emotions are inspired by real experiences. In 2021, I took a solo trip to Kashmir without telling my family. That journey sparked the idea for this story.

During the trip, I began imagining different scenarios and characters, and one thought stayed with me—what if I wrote about a girl who begins a journey to Kashmir without her family knowing?

While Maev, Sam, and the others are fictional, their emotions—love, fear, and self-discovery—are very real and relatable.

4. What motivated you to explore themes of love and hope?

I wanted to explore love not just as romance, but as something deeper—something that continues even after loss. Love can guide us, shape us, and stay with us in meaningful ways.

Even when love brings pain, it also leaves behind lessons and strength. One key message I hope readers take away is that everyone enters our lives for a reason—some to teach us love, others to teach us loss, and some to help us discover who we are.

Above all, I want readers to feel that hope always exists, even in difficult times, and that healing is possible.

5. How did you create the immersive setting of the novel?

The setting reflects the emotional journey of the characters. For me, the world is not just a backdrop—it’s an extension of their inner lives.

I focused on creating cinematic and atmospheric spaces—mountains, snowfall, quiet rooms, hospital corridors, and emotionally significant locations. Each setting mirrors the mood of the story.

Many elements are inspired by real life. Places like Lovers Park are based on locations from my college days, and moments like bus rides and canteen conversations come from personal memories. My visit to Kashmir also helped me bring authenticity and depth to the setting.

6. How do you balance originality with genre expectations?

Romance and emotional fiction come with certain expectations, but I wanted to present them in a fresh, cinematic way.

The challenge was to make the story feel familiar yet unique. I focused on emotional depth, visual storytelling, and authenticity to create a distinct voice. My aim is for readers to experience the story not just through words, but through feelings and vivid imagery.

7. How do you maintain pacing and keep readers engaged?

For me, pacing is driven by emotion rather than just events. I focus on how the characters feel and evolve throughout the story.

Each chapter is designed to build curiosity—not just about what happens next, but about how the characters will respond emotionally. I also use subtle cliffhangers and smooth transitions to maintain momentum and keep the narrative engaging.

8. How do you see storytelling evolving today?

Today’s readers are drawn to authenticity and emotional realism. Storytelling is becoming more immersive and cinematic, allowing readers to truly feel the narrative.

I try to write in a way that is intimate, honest, and relatable while still preserving timeless themes like love and connection. My goal is to make readers feel as if they are living inside the story.

Step into a story where love, loss, and hope intertwine in the most beautiful way.
