1. What inspires you to use poetry as a creative form, and what makes it effective in expressing deeper emotions and ideas?
The medium of poetry is a very effective way to satisfy my curiosity about things most people overlook. It offers a fresh outlook to recognize emotions and perspectives.
2. Could you talk about what shaped the themes of your poems and how those themes affected the way the poems were written?
The theme of the poems was inspired by day-to-day happenings. My love for Haiku influenced the tone and structure.
3. Since poetry allows for both personal expression and reader interpretation, how do you strike a balance between the two?
The art in the book was a key navigational tool because my interpretation was conveyed very effectively to the readers, whilst also leaving room for a more personal meaning. I was fortunate to find someone who could translate my words so well.
4. How do you create a sense of musicality in your poetry, and what role does it play in the overall experience?
In Haiku, the music comes from syllables and the minimalist form. The ability of a Haiku to convey meaning without too many words challenges the reader and also sets them thinking.
5. How do your life experiences and personal background shape the content and imagery in your poems?
A lot! Everyday happenings influenced the Haiku, whether it was the change of seasons, childhood, politics, nature, and science. Basically, life itself.
6. How do you use poetry to reflect on or respond to what’s happening in the world around you?
I hope that my poetry makes the readers pause and observe the world I live in and identify with parts of it and make it a part of their world.
7. Do you have any writing habits or creative routines that help you stay inspired and refine your craft?
The ritual I follow very stringently is to read a lot of poetry. Most poems I read inspire me to write better. The other is observing with patience all that is around me. I try to find beauty in the mundane.
